HOWTO upgrade Pdf+ on the SonyEricsson P910
The HOWTO upgrade Pdf+ on the P910 describe you you can upgrade the ROM version of describes installation and removal of FontMachine (for Psion and comaptibles), listing currently installed fonts, and installation and removal of font files.
Installation instructions for the P910 Upgrade
The P910 Upgrade upgrades the version of Pdf+ in ROM. Installation is more complicated than usual, because of this.
If you have installed the public beta, you must remove it first, using the instructions below.
The upgrade will install itself on the internal c: drive. You cannot change this, as removal of the memory stick will result in problems.
- For security and peace of mind, save all data and make a backup of your P910.
- Make sure the version in ROM is 1.60.6. Use the About Pdf+ command to verify. Upgrading has not been tested on other version of
Pdf+ than 1.60.6.
If your version is lower, please reflash the ROM in your P910 first. - Obtain and install a file manager that is capable of viewing the system folder on a UIQ device. A suitable program is QFileMan [.zip file, 23 Kb], available at the Symbian developer website.
- Install the P910 Upgrade sis file in the usual way.
- Use QFileMan to delete the file c:\system\data\AppArc.db.
This file has details on installed applications. After installing the P910 upgrade these details are out-of-date and must be refreshed. The system automatically rebuilds this file after a reboot. - Reboot your P910 by removing and reinserting it's battery. Turn the P910 on.
- Pdf+ has been upgraded and is available for use.

The P910 upgrade cannot be removed in the usual way, because it is not listed as an installed program. If you want to remove the upgrade, proceed as follows
- For security and peace of mind, save all data and make a backup of your P910.
- Using QFileMan, delete the following Pdf+ files (x: is the drive you have installed Pdf+ on):
- the folder x:\system\apps\PdfPlus
- the file c:\system\data\AppArc.db
- the file x:\system\data\PdfLib.rsc
- the file x:\system\libs\FreeType2_1_10.dll
- the file x:\system\libs\PdfLib.dll
- the file x:\system\libs\Pdfplusoslib.dll
- the file x:\system\libs\pdfplusuilib_UIQ.dll
- the file c:\system\install\Pdf+UIQ_SE_Upgrade.sis
- Reboot the device by removing and reinserting the battery. Turn the device back on. The old ROM version of Pdf+ should now be available for use.
Removing the release version is done in the same way. In this case the entiere program sits on the c: drive, you should therefore use c:
