PdfPrinter (for Psion and compatibles)
With PdfPrinter you can create PDF documents, also known as Adobe® Acrobat® files, on your Series 80 smartphone or communicator, such as the Nokia 9300, the Nokia 9300i and the Nokia 9500.
PdfPrinter is a printer driver, it transforms the generic printer commands generated by programs into PDF commands and stores them in a PDF file. As a result you can create PDF files from all programs that can print.
The resulting PDF file can now be backed up, viewed on a desktop PC, stored in your corporate database, emailed to a client, etc.

PdfPrinter (for Psion and compatibles) creates PDF version 1.2 (Adobe® Acrobat® 3.x),
1.3 (Acrobat 4.x) and 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) files.
- You can set the PDF properties of the file, such as the title, the author and important keywords.
- PdfPrinter compresses the file, making it less demanding on storage space and also making it faster and cheaper to email to another party.
- You can restrict access to the file by specifying whether the contents can be copied, printed or viewed by special-needs viewers.
- You can encrypt the file with the Standard 40 bits encryption (Acrobat 3.x and 4.x) and the much safer 128 bits encryption schemes.
- You can use the Courier, Helvetica and Times Roman Type 1 fonts. It is not possible to use the Symbol and Zapf Dingbats fonts. Neither is it possible to embed fonts.
There are some issues you need to be aware of when creating PDF documents with PdfPrinter (for Psion and compatibles).
- Only characters that are part of the codepage 1252 character set are added to the PDF file, other characters are replaced by a space.
- Underlined and strikethrough fonts aren't drawn properly, the lines are longer than the text.
- In Sheet, graphs aren't drawn properly. This appears to be an issue in Sheet itself, as the graphics are drawn outside the clipping rectangle (the clipping rectangle specifies the valid area in which text and images are visible). The graphs can be made visible by unticking the Mask option on the Misc tab (the Sheet fix).

You can try PdfPrinter for free, download PdfPrinter-v5-demo.zip [.zip file, 127 Kb], uncompress it and install PdfPrinter.sis on your PDA in the usual way. Check the manual if you are unsure how to install software on your PDA.
The demo version will cease to work on 1 December 2002. By changing the system date on your PDA you can check if PdfPrinter fullfils your PDF creation needs.
